Dr. Kulwinder Virk, MD, CCFP, ACBOM, is a family physician with additional training in occupational medicine, serving patients in the Calgary and Chestermere communities. He holds Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) as well as certification with the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine (ACBOM). Dr. Virk is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care with an emphasis on prevention, workplace health, and long-term wellness.
Dr. Virk completed his undergraduate studies in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Calgary before attending St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. During medical school, he completed clinical clerkships throughout the northeastern United States, gaining broad exposure to diverse healthcare settings. He returned to Calgary to complete his Family Medicine residency at the University of Calgary, where he developed a strong foundation in community-based primary care.
Following residency, Dr. Virk joined Lakemed Clinic in Chestermere, where he practiced family medicine and was a partner in the clinic for eight years until 2024. He subsequently took a two-year leave to work as a medical consultant with the Workers’ Compensation Board of Alberta, further expanding his expertise in occupational injury management and workplace health. He currently practices as an Occupational Injury Services (OIS) physician in Calgary while continuing family medicine in Chestermere. Dr. Virk is also a panel physician authorized to perform immigration medical examinations for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Dr. Virk was raised in the Calgary area, and has strong ties to the local communities. Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active, playing golf, and spending time with his family. He values building long-term relationships with patients and is dedicated to supporting their health at every stage of life.
